The UN Language Programme

The UN Language Programme aims to promote multilingualism within the United Nations and to enhance the language capabilities of its staff, as mandated by the General Assembly in its resolutions of 1968 (A/RES/2480(XXIII), A/RES/43/224 and A/RES/50/11). Depending on the context, multilingualism can refer to the working languages of the Secretariat, the official languages of the UN, or any other combination of languages.

For the Asia and the Pacific region, ESCAP (based in Bangkok) offers the UN Language Programme for personnel working in various UN entities.
