Ways of partnering with ESCAP

Joint programming, advocacy and knowledge sharing

Partners can collaborate with ESCAP through joint implementation of technical cooperation activities, advocating for shared goals, and actively engaging in knowledge sharing to enhance the impact and reach of collective efforts to promote sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific.

In-kind support

Partners can support the work of ESCAP through provision of in-kind contributions, such as the services of experts (Junior Professional Officers, Non-reimbursable Loan experts, UN Volunteers, etc.) and the provision of facilities and equipment.

Financial support

Partners can support the work of ESCAP through provision of financial resources towards implementation of the programme of work. Funds can be contributed towards specific projects and areas of work or also in the form of unearmarked donor-specific trust funds.

Partnership agreements

ESCAP engages with partners through various modalities, including:

  • Framework agreements under Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and other partnership arrangements
  • Direct contribution by the partner under a trust fund or special agreement
  • Joint implementation of activities under an exchange of letters or separate agreement

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

Memoranda of Understanding are framework agreements ESCAP concludes with programme partners to strengthen a strategic partnership. These partners are very often regional or international organizations and the scope of cooperation covers more than one area of ESCAP’s work while still maintaining focus on specific areas.
