Executive Secretary with Indonesian Foreign Minister

ESCAP Executive Secretary Armida Alisjahbana held a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Retno LP Marsudi in Bangkok on 28 December to exchange views on the challenges faced to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Asia-Pacific region. They highlighted the importance of complementarities between the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, both of which were adopted in 2015. During the bilateral meeting, Ms. Alisjahbana and H.E. Marsudi also discussed specific issues of concern to Indonesia on the SDGs, in particular human resources development, improving nutrition and reducing stunting. H.E. Marsudi further reaffirmed the Government of Indonesia’s strong support of ESCAP activities and work in the region, and expressed that she was looking forward to more enhanced cooperation in the coming years.
