The first session of the Committee on Transport was held on 29 to 31 October 2008 at the United Nations Conference Centre, Bangkok. The meeting focused on the overall policy aspects of transport and on initiatives promoted by the Commission for an international integrated intermodal transport and logistics system in Asia and the Pacific, as envisioned in the Busan Declaration on Transport Development in Asia and the Pacific. The meeting also focused on topical issues that include transport and poverty – from farm to market; transport and environment - energy consumption and emissions; and transport and society - improving road safety.
