The Business Talk will be organized as part of the Paperless Trade Week, which is led by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), with international organizations as partners, including the Islamic Development Bank, Commonwealth Secretariat, World Economic Forum, the International Chamber of Commerce and many more who are actively supporting cross-border paperless trade.

At this session, thought leaders from around the globe took to the stage in a series of TED-talk-style presentations, captivating the audience with their visions of the future of cross-border trade. These dynamic talks delved into the transformative potential of paperless trade systems, exploring how they could revolutionize trade efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance regulatory compliance.

Trevor O'Regan is Director of Economic Development Consultants Ireland (EDCI). He has more than 25 years of professional experience working on trade facilitation, trade promotion, trade information and single windows, free trade agreements, regional economic integration and regulatory reform for the EU, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, USAID, the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office and the Irish Government in ASEAN, South Asia, the Western Balkans, Southern and Western Africa and the Caribbean. Most recently, he was Team Leader for the EU-funded ARISE+ project based in Hanoi, Vietnam supporting the implementation of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.

Trevor is Member of the Advisory Board of Geoscience Ireland and is an approved advisor for the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation. He also works for Sustainable Food Systems Ireland providing expertise in trade and sustainable development and is on the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) roster of approved consultants for Advice for Small Businesses.

Trevor is based in Ireland but has spent a significant part of the past 10 years working in SE Asia including 4 years living in Singapore.

Prior to joining New Zealand’s largest company Fonterra, Daniel spent 13 years with the New Zealand Customs Service working in a variety of roles including Border Operations and Trade.

Daniel led the Joint Electronic Verification System (JEVS) project between New Zealand & China Customs. JEVS is the Certificate of Origin data transfer program which removed the requirement for paper-based certificates of origin.

Daniel and his team were awarded IPANZ Public Sector Excellence Award in 2017. Daniel is also a two-time recipient of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) award having won in 2016 for “Digital Customs: Progressive Engagement” and in 2017 for “Data Analysis for Effective Border Management”.

Daniel’s role in Fonterra has a global function where he oversees Customs compliance, policies and procedures in Asia, the America’s, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This has given Daniel a vast perspective on the variety of capabilities relating to paperless trade.

Fonterra is currently a member of the WCO Private Sector Consultative Group who provide global customs agencies with a private sector perspective when designing policies. Fonterra are also currently the Chair of the WCO Private Sector Asia Pacific Group who focus on improving trade within the APAC region.

Hakan Eroglu

Dmitry Godunov

Mr.D.Godunov has over twenty years of international experience, including in the areas of international diplomacy, trade facilitation, financial negotiations, the WTO accession and regional integration.

He joined UNCTAD SG Office in 2008.  From 2009 he is with UNCTAD ASYCUDA Programme dealing with advocacy of customs reforms and trade facilitation in countries with economies in transition.

Mr.Godunov is UNCTAD ASYCUDA Regional Coordinator for the Central East Europe, Caucasus and Central/North Asia.  He oversees projects in Gibraltar/UK, Albania, Kosovo, BiH, Moldova, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Mongolia on implementation of e-declaration systems, single window, e-certification, cross-border data exchange, regional transit, e-commerce support and others.

Mr.Godunov is an active participant of international and regional conferences, expert groups meetings and workshops. He is promoting partnerships with international and bilateral donors.

Mr.Godunov has a master's degree in international relations and economy. He speaks English, French and Nordic languages.
