The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are pleased to convene Food Systems National Convenors and other experts from across Asia and the Pacific to assess the progress made in transforming food systems, facilitate regional knowledge sharing, and identify emerging patterns and solutions.
Structure and objectives
The Regional Preparatory Meeting will be a one-day meeting held on 29 April in Bangkok, Thailand.
The meeting will build on the Regional Preparatory Meeting in Asia and the Pacific that took place in 2023, and respond to the Secretary-General's Call to Action at the UNFSS+2, which guides the workplan of the Hub.
The meeting have the following objectives:
- Comprehensive review of progress in food systems transformation since the UNFSS+2 STM made by participating countries in their food systems transformation efforts. This will provide a systematic approach to evaluating achievements and identifying areas that require further attention and improvement.
- Capacity Development on thematic areas to foster regional knowledge sharing with experts and stakeholders to align action in support of national food systems transformation processes.
- Fostering of regional collaboration and regional communities by exploring strategies for planning and coordinating future collaborative efforts among participating countries and stakeholders, emphasizing the need for continued cooperation and the setting of shared goals.
- Increasing knowledge on the complex interplay between food systems and climate action and explore strategies for aligning food systems transformation processes with existing climate action plans;
Participants and registration
The regional meeting will bring together Food Systems National Convenors from Asia and the Pacific, practitioners, and civil society members involved in the food systems transformation and climate action, as well as concerned regional and international organizations and academia. Participation in this event is limited to individuals who have received formal invitations.

This event is part of a series of Regional Meetings organized by the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub as a follow-up to the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+2) Stocktaking Moment which took place in Rome in July 20232 . These meetings are being conducted in collaboration with the UN Regional Commissions, the Regional Offices of the UN Agencies supporting the Hub, and other relevant UN and regional bodies.
